Do the Monster Mash

As far as I can tell many of us (mainly those of you who are fellow Londoners) do not seem to be that happy with the changes that October has brung with it. Not only has it turned from warm to freezing cold in under a London minute (yes! I  am changing it! S'got a ring to it don't'cha think?); October for most means suffering from those post holiday blues and *sobs* marks the end of the hustle and bustle of fashion week month.

Despite all these things, I say we cannot fret and pout but instead spend all this energy on finding the best way to look the part at the scariest "holiday" of the year and maybe even host a garish Halloween party yourself!

I for one, do not like to say I celebrate Halloween but I enjoy the fact that it provides the opportunity for all people, big and little, to have some fun and just be silly about dark and deadly things, both real and fictional!

True to form, like any other of it's kind, Autumn's most celebrated holiday is not only fun and ghastly games but also it takes time and money to look good whilst also looking scary. There's always the "everyone always goes as ..." dilemma and the "girls just want to look like ..." generalisation but I say that we girls can bury these stereotypes and needless problems behind us and make Halloween fashionable!

I do realise that for many of you girls it's important to look good whilst playing into the whole Halloween idea, I know this because I'm completely the same and so because of this I've put special little something's for you ladies...

Here are some originally Halloween looks I've put together for you fellow Halloween bug-bitten ladies.

Play Jack Skellington's girl for the night in Topshop's spooky lookin' x-ray print.

Go out breaking hearts by dressing up as Alice in Wonderland's tyranic Queen.

Kick up a storm in Kenzo's Lightning print and electric accessories!

Give Batman a run for his money or maybe just hope Christian Bale will come swooping down to save you in a dyer situation!

Play the deadly yet irresistable Poison Ivy and test just how strong-willed those superheroes can be.

I have not forgotten you ladies out there who prefer to skip the costumes and like to have fun with Halloween by adding those little subtle additions to your outfit. You can still get that sultry vamp look by adding a cool Charlotte Olympia 'fangs' clutch, some cool nail art or a dark hue for the lips, either way you should definitely have a little fun with it!

Go forth and trick and tweet my gorgeous ghouls!

Winter Wardrobe Staple : Le Pullover

Every season has it's star player and this isn't only true of sports but of fashion too. Each season, like creatures of habit we always tend to have that one item of clothing that we cling to and this season is no different.
Only one month into Fall, I have already picked the chosen one, my indispensible for the colder months ahead, the one who'll add both comfort and fashion to my daily looks, the jumper.

Coming from a self confessed cardigan loather, I am a bit biased towards the beloved jumper but I have a feeling I'm not the only one...
Making it to the frontline of many designers' fall catwalk collections, there's no wonder everyone is lining their drawers with the season's most versatile and fashionable staple.

Who better than Givenchy to know how to make the jumper into a statement piece by adding an image only Tisci can make iconic. Last season, the ubiquitous Rottweiler printed on T-shirts and leather clutches had fashion lovers and celebrities alike in a frenzy and this season he's done it again!
Making Disney something adults can indulge in once again without feeling ridiculous, Tisci's 'Bambi' print designs have jumped right off the catwalks and into celeb must-haves. With the likes of Amanda Seyfried; Elle Fanning and Lily Collins already having given in to the 'hype', it's no wonder the rest of us poor mere mortals are left sobbing at the 'SOLD OUT' notices posted on every stockists' website!

I do hope Tisci has it in his heart to not break thousands of hearts around the world and send in an order for a few more to be made.
Get ready for those letters Santa!

Have you guys picked your Winter wardrobe staple?

Stick vs Stain

If you don't know this already, let me tell you that I am not the biggest beauty buff, I may have grown out of my early teen tom-boy phase and swapped my nikes in for pumps, heels and dresses but as far as hair and make-up are concerned, somewhere along the way I seemed to have missed the 'cosmetic' gene that most girl possess. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying I don't know how to apply the simplest of make-up (mascara and a bit of lip gloss are my go-to dailies) or curl my hair with a trusted pair of curling tongs but on attempting anything further than that, you'll more than likely catch me looking like a circus freak or rag doll a little girl has decided to demonstrate her artistic abilities on.

Up until now this didn't really bother me but I thought it was about time I started to put in at least half of the effort I spend on my wardrobe into my beauty regime. So now I have a new found appreciation and a slight admiration for all these beauty gurus on Youtube whom have already helped me more than they can possibly imagine and for that I thank them all and subscribe to their channels.

One thing I do love is lipstick, I do wish I had fuller lips (but we won't go down that road) but I love the instant lift it can give your look, whether it's a demure pink shade to carry you through the day or a darker or deeper hue of red for the night, it is the ultimate beauty up lift! As you can imagine, for a cosmetically-challenged girl like me it takes a great amount of effort and time to get my lip line and lipstick right (I never use a lip liner! I know I know, Naughty me!) so spending all this time to then have it rub off with the first drink/meal of the day and having to re-apply over and over can be a little annoying and tedious.

I'd started to become a little lazy and eventually gave up on lipstick until one day when I was introduced to the wonder that is Sephora Lip Stain. It was a gorgeous bright red that gave an all black work outfit the much needed life it was missing, so much so that I had to stop and this girl to ask where she had bought this amazing lipstick. She beamingly thanked me and to my surprise told me it was not lipstick but lip stain!

Unfortunately she had bought it from Sephora, whom unfortunately have yet to open a much needed and awaited store in the UK. Evidently, not wanting to accept defeat, even though this Sephora miracle has the best reviews, I decided to research the next best thing... I ended up starting with a more economical alternative from Sleek's make-up range for only £5 and so far I have very few complaints, more like just one tiny one but for £5 this is almost expected. Aside from leaving your lips a bit dry but not TOO dry, lip stain is perfect if you like that matted look, it lasts longer (but still not long enough) and it is also much more easier to apply having an applicator wand just like that of lip gloss, I won't say it is a mirror-free application but nonetheless a big improvement on time saving in comparison to lip stick!

Sleek Make-Up Matte Me Lip Cream

Here are a few others on my wishlist (various colours available in all)

1. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain
2. Benefit Benetint Lip & Cheek Stain
3. Saint Laurent Glossy Stain
4. Victoria's Secret Colour Lust Glossy Lip Stain
5. Victoria's Secret Pout Lip Stain
6. Lime Crime Lip Stain

By the way in case you didn't catch it, that was a big hint that you guys at Sephora should open a store here in London pronto!
Shall we sign a petition girls?

Welcome back old friend...

With autumn arriving in all its ‘rain clad’ glory, it’s time to bid farewell to our sandals and shorts and say hello to the familiar ankle boots and comfy knitwear (which, let's face it, are really always on standby in a British girl's wardrobe). Call me crazy but to be totally honest with you; although I am the biggest fan of summer and longer days, I have been ready to welcome the cold seasons with open arms for weeks now. Maybe it’s the excitement of seeing the new trends start to rear their heads on the streets of London, maybe it’s because all the good shows come back on or maybe it’s because you know that there’s not so long until Christmas comes around!

There will always be those things that you love, that are unique to the colder seasons. Things like Christmas, Bonfire Night, Thanksgiving and curling up in bed with a cup of tea whilst it pours down with rain outside. So before I say one last goodbye to you Summer, here are a few of the great memories we made together this year…

What are you favourite things about Autumn?

Matchmaking in May

Hello there my lovelies! It's been a while since my last post and for that I apologize, to put it in a few words, my life has completely flipped upside down in the last month. I have a new full-time internship which I am totally loving (the no money part is the only bit that sucks) and possibly I could be working at the fashion brand from which a girl like me dreams' are made of. Although, I don't want to "jump the gun" like they say, so I will just ask you all to keep your fingers and toes crossed for me now and will let you know if I get good news!

The last few weeks I have been noticing and absolutely LOVING the matchy matchy trend or as some of you may call them, co-ords. Two of my favourites and also on my must-haves list for this month, are two beautiful and tres mignon matching sets from Topshop. One very much embodying this season's Louis Vuitton Campaign in a cute yellow check and the other in White and Navy breton stripes (I love almost everything in breton stripes).

I must admit I do feel a little hypocritical, as it was only a few years that I'd look down on the idea of wearing matchy matchy sets. However, it is true to say that our style and taste evolves over the years, if it were not true I'd still be walking around in a tracksuit and nikes thinking the Sporty Spice look was definitely still very much 'IN'. Now considering it is the right cut, shape or print, I personally think a matching co-ord set can be the perfect girly addition to your wardrobe and it can also carry out the task of making you look dressed up but also just casual enough for those special day events!

Here are a few I've totally been crushing on for a the last few weeks.

Anyone else loving the cutest trend of S/S'13?
